Despite uncertain release date, some features of Acer Aspire One 522 are leaked on the internet. The device features new hardware that includes AMD Fusion chip. Yes, the new netbook boots AMD dual-core C-50 Ontario chip even though it shares some similarities with the previous model, i.e. Acer Aspire One AOD255. One of the striking differences is that Acer Aspire One 522 requires less power in that it only needs 9W to run. It also has a touchpad button that is missing in the previous model.
The 10.1 incher netbook projects a resolution of 1280×780, but the users have a chance to get a better resolution by using HDMI port for an external display. The netbook is built with multimedia features in mind. It hosts a Radeon 6250 graphics processor to support UVD3 accelerated video decoding and DirectX 11. However, the users are provided with moderate battery life (lasting 6 hours) and one built-in speaker.
Unfortunately, no information is available on the time of release. Engadget got a leak that the netbook costs around $425 in Thailand with some updated specs. They include Windows 7 starter as operating system, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB or HD, and an AMD C-Series C-50 processor (1GHz). HD webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 10/10 LAN have been the standard features of Acer Aspire notebooks, and you will find them in One 522.
