Samsung to unveil iPod Touch rival

The iPod touch has been one of the best music players on the market today, with the latest version having facetime cameras, WiFi connectivity, a gigantic application store and a new retina display, its hard to ignore the fact that this device could be more than just a mere music playing device.



A few tech sites have been posting pictures of a new Android product by Samsung that will rival the iPod Touch. They say that the Samsung Galaxy Player will debut at CES 2011 as a phoneless version of their super successful smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S. The Galaxy Player has 2 cameras (a 3.2 mega pixel camera on the back and a VGA webcam on the front), WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, a microSD card slot, 1GHz Prossesor and for an operating system, Android 2.2. Froyo.


The device measures 9mm thick and has a LCD display that is bigger than the iPod however the resolution is smaller than the touch with 800 x 480. The iPod has a 960 x 640 retina display, the same one as the iPhone 4.

No prices have been given out yet but we do know that the sizes come in 8 GB, 16GB and 32GB. More information will be revealed at CES 2011 in less than two weeks.
