2011 BlackBerry smartphone, Reviews

If you own a BlackBerry smartphone, then you definitely want BB OS 6 on your device, however, RIM and the carriers are delaying the release of the software for most of you. Well, RIM and Verizon are planning something big today asBlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 and Bold 9650 users will be able to downloadBlackBerry 6 OS.
BlackBerry 6 is a huge improvement over BlackBerry 5 OS and alongside a plethora of new features, you will get significant speed improvements, better battery life, and plenty of bug fixes to improve the user experience. Let’s not forget about the cooler user interface and the new RIM WebKit browser, one of the best on the market.
The updates are now available for download so if you didn’t receive them OTA, then check out the instructions here for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and these instructions for the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330. Let me know if you downloaded BlackBerry 6 OS for theBlackBerry Bold 9650 or for your BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330.

2011 New BlackBerry Curve

RIM needs to refresh its BlackBerry lineup in order to get back a market sharelost to Android phones and the first phone is this BlackBerry Curve internally codenamed Apollo. Although there are no numbers in this phone’s name, we’re guessing that this might be the BlackBerry Curve 9350, though you can never be sure with RIM.
This next-gen BlackBerry Curve is powered by a Tavor MG1 processor clocked at 800MHz, BlackBerry 6.1 OS, 360 x 480 display, 5-megapixel camera on the back with flash, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 512MB ROM, 512MB RAM, 7.2Mbps HSPA, quadband EDGE, NFC support, GPS, and a 1,050mAh battery among others.
The BlackBerry Curve will become the most powerful BlackBerry smartphone of them all, surpassing the BlackBerry Torch which hasn’t been that popular among RIM fans.According to the source who leaked the photo below and the specs, this BB Curve is only 11mm thin and it will be mid-range priced.
The biggest problem with BlackBerry smartphones is the low-end hardware. RIM needs to introduce smartphones with faster CPU, more memory, bigger and better screens, and improved cameras. Let’s hope that this BlackBerry Curve is just the first step towards bringing better BBs to the market!

2011 BlackBerry Style 9670

I think this is the first BlackBerry smartphone introduced by RIM after the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet so here it comes folks: the BlackBerry Style 9670. This device is going to hit Sprint as of October 31st for only $99 if you agree to a new two-year contract.
The BlackBerry Style 9670 specs include a 624MHz processor, BlackBerry 6 OS, 5-megapixel camera with flash and video recording, microSD card slot of up to 32GB, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, GPS, full QWERTY keyboard, stereo Bluetooth, and lots of pre-installed apps like BlackBerry Messenger, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube among others.
BlackBerry Style 9670
So the BlackBerry Style 9670 release date is October 31st, while the BlackBerry Style 9670 price is $99. It seems like this device won’t support 4G connectivity, and you should know that this smartphone will become available in both Steel Grey and Royal Purple flavors, but the latter will be released sometime in November.
What do you think about BlackBerry smartphones? Do you like the BlackBerry Style 9670? Let me know if you’re going to get this device as soon as it’s released by Sprint in the comments section below!

2011 BlackBerry Torch 2 design

RIM is not out of the smartphone business and although it’s been a while since the company last released a competitive phone, we’ve seen some earlypromises like the BlackBerry Dakota and the BlackBerry Apollo. The third smartphone leaked by BGR is the BlackBerry Torch 2 which will finally become the smartphone of your dreams!
The BlackBerry Torch 2 specs include a 1.2GHz CPU with OpenGL ES support, 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 640 x 480 resolution, built-in 8GB memory, 512MB RAM, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Blueooth 2.1, GPS, NFC support, 14.4Mbps HSPA, accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity sensor, BlackBerry 6.1 OS, and a 1,300mAh battery.
BlackBerry Torch 2
The BlackBerry Torch 2 design is similar with the one of the previous version, a sliding QWERTY smartphone, however, a silver matte finish has been added. It looks good and hopefully it will work better than the previous generation.

BlackBerry Storm 3
The BGR ninjas have leaked three new BlackBerrysmartphones and frankly, RIM is showing signs ofrecovery thanks to theCurve Apollo, Torch 2, andDakota. Well, the BlackBerryStorm 3 project has been revived and now theBlackBerry family ofsmartphones is reunited andcomplete.
The BlackBerry Storm 3 specs include a 1.2GHz CPU with OpenGL ES 2.0 support, 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen at 800 x 480 resolution, 5-megapixel camera on the back with 720p HD video recording, built-in 8GB memory, 512MB RAM, microSD card slot, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G mobile hotspot support, accelerometer, magnetometer, proximity sensor, GPS, optical trackpad, BlackBerry 6.1 OS, and a 1,230mAh battery.
These specs would have been impressive if the smartphone would have been released in 2010, however, the BlackBerry Storm 3 release is supposed to be Q3 2011 and you already know the story about better processors, bigger and better touchscreen, more storage, bigger batteries, and better cameras.
The good thing is that the power of BlackBerry smartphones lies in the OS and these specs are great for a BlackBerry device. I’m sure that there are enough BlackBerry fans and that BB 6.1 OS will perform great with this hardware. Let’s just wait and see while looking at this low-res picture below.

2011 Blackberry mobiles reviews

Remember the BlackBerry Malibu name leaked earlier today? It’s supposed to be the next-gen blackberry Curve and it will most likely be called Curve Touch. Well, the Curve is appreciated by many because it doesn’t have high-end aspirations and because it’s reasonably priced and if you will read the specs of the BlackBerry Curve Touch, then it might become your next smartphone.
The BlackBerry Curve Touch specs include a 800MHz Qualcomm CPU, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, 512MB RAM, 1GB built-in storage with microsdcard slot support, GPS, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, NFC capabilities, Bluetooth, 3.25″ HVGA touchscreen, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and an optical trackpad.
RIM’s BlackBerry Malibu aka Curve Touch release date is very late 2011 or very early 2012. Check out the BlackBerry Curve Touch pic below and let me know if you’re going to purchase this smartphone when it becomes available! Will it be too late? Will RIM

Blackberry Phones Need QNX

RIM procured QNX software for use on their coming Blackberry Playbook and there was hope they were also going to be replacing the present Blackberry OS 6.0. This would mirror the plans Google has for running both mobile phones and tablets using the Android 3.0. Over 2 years ago, RIM was making claims that it had the finest offering gadjets at Verizon and at the time, they were doing very well with their mobile devices, including the Blackberry Storm. Now we are ending the year and Blackberry cell phones are being entirely overshadowed by Android phones at Verizon. With the Windows Phone 7 coming to Verizon next year and the ongoing rumor of a Verizon iPhone, where is that going to leave Blackberry phones? If you look at other wireless carriers in the US, the image is much the same. Sales of Blackberry phones continues to be replaced by Android OS phones.
Since we do not have sales numbers from the Windows Phone 7, it would specify they are not selling in addition to expected. If they were, Blackberry phones would possibly take more of a hit as a result. So, when can we guess to see a utterly new OS for Blackberry handsets so they can be aggressive? The answers is probably later rather then earlier. So as to take advantage of the QNX OS on Blackberry phones, will entail something which is not in place today on the hardware. Based on comments at Live At Dive, the QNX software needs to have multi-core chips in order to effectively perform and that has become the focus for RIM with respect to the Blackberry phones. At the moment, there are no multi-core chips which can be used without chewing up the battery. RIM is presently focused on the Blackberry Playbook and it is running the QNX software with a multi-core processor to take advantage of the features. It does seem that the historic Blackberry phones have taken a back seat to the coming tablet, as though RIM knows they cannot compete at the moment.

BlackBerry 9800 at AT&T in August, at Vodafone in September

Apparently the rumour is that the new smartphone out of the Research In Motion stable, the BlackBerry 9800 Slider may just see release on the AT&T network on the 15th of August and that the BlackBerry 9800 may also go with Rogers in Canada. BlackBerry Cool is also saying that there may well be a CDMA version of the BlackBerry 9800 for the Sprint network as well.
As for the BlackBerry 9800 hitting Europe well the word is that Vodafone is the most likely candidate and apparently “a source” claims the official schedule for the BlackBerry 9800 to hit Vodafone is sometime in September, although the general feeling is the device will likely ship in October.
A Vodafone link also makes hints that there will possibly be a CDMA BlackBerry 9800 for Verizon Wireless as well, although the Big Red is expecting the BlackBerry Storm 3 in the not too distant future.

Saudi Arabia Shuts Down BlackBerry Messaging

Saudi Arabia has carried through with it’s promise and has forced the three network providers to block access to BlackBerry Messaging. Yahoo! News is reporting today that a number of users over that way have confirmed that they are now unable to access the service that their smartphones were primarily designed to use.
The reasons the BlackBerry messaging service has been shut down was related to “security concerns”. Any of the three carriers now blocking the service would have been given a $1.3M fine.
We are not sure when and if services will be restored. From what we understand, it would require that RIM build a datacentre out that way rather than relying on the one in Canada to handle the messages.
The move is expected to effect 750,000 BlackBerry owners in Saudi Arabia.

BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G Runs OS 6.0

RIM has announced the BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300). The smartphone will come supplied with BlackBerry OS 5, but in the coming months an upgrade to OS 6 will be made available to download and update the new mobile device.
The smartphone is compatible with HSDPA networks, has a QWERTY keyboard, has built in Wi-Fi and GPS and can be used with microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity.
The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 is launching at the beginning of this month according to the press release sent out today which basically means, it’s ready any time now.

BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 from Sprint

Sprint has recently provided availability of the Research In Motion (RIM) smartphone in their network, known as the BlackBerry Curve 3G (9330).
This smartphone has a sleek and professional look with lightweight and slim form factor, a new chrome-like finish in Graphite Gray or Royal Purple, and textured battery door.
The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 phone is come with feature-rich and powerful handset. It is offers for price tag $49.99 on a new 2-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate, as well as will be available on September 26, 2010.

Blackberry Storm 3 Coming Soon

BlackBerry Storm 3 is announced to be coming soon and possibly sooner than you think.  A leaked image of the BlackBerry Storm 3 showed a 3.7 inch display on the smartphone.  The mobile device alleged, according to sources, would have Wi-Fi technology and 8 GB of internal memory for each unit.  Although the BlackBerry Storm 1 and 2 did not garner a lot of admirers as expected, Storm 3 could rectify that fact and turn the product around.
The design of the Storm 3 as exposed by the leaked picture, is BlackBerry’s answer to one of its competitions, the iphone.  The bulky display and its touch screen capabilities could change owners’ beliefs and persuade them of the many good features of the product compared to its past models and its other counterparts.
The coming months could mean more seepage of information and rumors on what clients can anticipate of this 3rd Generation BlackBerry Storm. Critics just expect that this latest model would essentially have more improved features that is worth the wait and the ruckus.  But all that will be based on the hypothesis that the leaked image of the handset is actually justifiable and real.
If RIM, the business manufacturing BlackBerry phones, have perfected the design and technology of this model, all the past pessimism could turn out to be in their advantage. It could even optimistically help in improving the marketing and sales of their products notwithstanding the disappointments in the past.  But, until the BlackBerry Storm 3 is authoritatively launched and shown to the public, customers could justifiably, remain disbeliever.

Blackberry Torch 9800 coming on Friday

After countless expectancy, RIM’s Blackberry Torch 9800 is launching this week in the U.K. We have had reports from Electric Pig that Phones 4U are getting hold of its first batch of the Blackberry 6s on Friday.
The slider device has  a 5 mega pixel camera, WiFi, GPS with Blackberry Maps, Blackberry Messenger and a 3.2in touchscreen. The Torch has been accessible for pre-order from different network providers such as Orange and Vodafone.
It was exposed today from Mashable that Blackberry is the most owned smartphone in the U.S, ahead of Apple’s iPhone and Android. Optimistically the Torch will live up to the expectation and prove to be a force in the mobile market.

Droid Pro brings BlackBerry feel to Android phones

Verizon and Motorola have revealed the Droid Pro, a new Android handset that takes intend at BlackBerry. This corporate-focused gadjet melds the touchskreen edge of its beneficiary Droids with a comfortable keyboard and world-phone antennas.
The candy-bar phone sports a 3.1-inch screen and full QWERTY keyboard. For evaluation, the iPhone4features a slightly larger 3.5-inch screen, while the Droid X boasts a hulking 4.3-incher. Neither have any physical keypad. The Droid 2 enjoys 3.7-inch touch screen and slide out keyboard, offering bigger keys than the Droid Pro but requires an extra motion every time you want to type on it.
Inside the Droid Pro, Motorola has packed all the firepower that Android fans have come to expect: 1GHz processor, 512MB of memory, 2GB hard drive plus an SD card slot. The 5-megapixel camera is on par with Apple and the Droid 2, but a little shy of the 8-megapixel Droid X. Of course, pixel count doesn’t mean much these days. We’ll need to wait for a hands-on before ranking any camera above another. The Droid Pro will also come with the latest Android 2.2 operating system.
Many reporters noticed the Droid Pro’s BlackBerry theme immediately.

BlackBerry Storm 3 Coming Soon

A few weeks ago, a cell phone was shown off through Indonesian spycam photos as the alleged Storm 3 and then professed to be a Storm 2 refresh. Then, a BlackBerry developer was told that the device was canceled, a tip that we found highly hesitant. Now, a Wall Street financial forecaster is reporting that RIM is preparing to ship the Storm 3 in November, following their usual release pattern of releasing a new BlackBerry Storm in Q4 of every year.
The firm in question is Jeffries & Co., and according to them, the Storm 3 coming in November will be “thinner than the iPhone” and, in a appalling move, will not be running BlackBerry OS like the first two Storm phones. As a replacement for, it’ll be running the QNX Neutrinooperating system. That name may be proverbial to you. RIM purchased firm QNX this year, and their Neutrino software was recently seen in the unveiled PlayBook BlackBerry tablet from RIM.
The idea of Neutrino on a phone shouldn’t surprise you, RIM executives have made clear thatNeutrino will eventually replace BlackBerry OS on the mobile phones. What’s shocking is that RIM just introduced BlackBerry OS 6, which is supposedly be much more optimized for touchscreen devices and shipped on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 – their hybrid touchscreen/keyboard device that is not apart of the Storm series of phones.
Jeffries & Co also says that SurePress won’t be included on this new Storm, another departure from the Storm line. Other rumors for the Storm 3 (not posted by Jeffries & Co, this is just a general recap) include a 3.7-inch screen (despite 3.7-inches being the standard size for the iPhone and most Android phones, the first Storm and Storm 2 both had 3.25-inch screens), a 5MP camera and mobile WiFi hotspot abilities.
